Charles Alan Collins,87, a devoted family man and cherished community member, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 10, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family.
Born on July 22, 1937, he was a son to the late Rowe and Pauline Margaret (Snyder) Collins. He was the husband of the late Nancy A. (Hassman) whom he spent 40 years of marriage with prior to her passing in 2002.
After serving for six years in the U.S. Army, Charles dedicated himself to his career at DANA Corp, where he rose to the position of supervisor, committing 19 years of service before his retirement. His colleagues and friends regarded him as hard-working and always willing to lend a hand, traits that resonated throughout his personal life as well. Charles was a passionate individual whose interests spanned various pursuits, most notably hiking, camping, and photography. He found joy in creating lasting memories with his family during camping trips, capturing moments that would be cherished for generations. Additionally, he had a talent for writing short stories and poems, finding solace and expression through the written word. He often enjoyed winding down with family and friends while watching movies, bringing the family together in shared laughter and love.
He is survived by his daughter, Kelly L. Collins of Reading; his sons, Terry L. Collins of Breinigsville and Randy S. Collins of Perkasie; and four beloved grandchildren: Matthew, husband of Christopher Correll; Felicia Collins Cintron; Melissa Chavez, wife of Bradley; and Taylor Collins of Philadelphia. Charles also embraced the joy of being a great-grandfather to ten great-grandchildren: Zowenn, Zamarra, Azriel, Mackenna, Malaine, Bradley "L.B.", Carter, Dennis, Destney, and Gabrielle, as well as one cherished great-great-grandson, Lennox. He is also survived by siblings Pearl Ohlinger, William Collins, Danny Collins, Barbara Collins, Louis Collins, and George Collins.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Rowe C. and Margaret Pauline (Snyder) Collins, and by siblings Ronald Collins, Sonny Collins, Barbara Ohlinger, and Elizabeth Leinbach.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date. This gathering will honor the remarkable life of a man who loved deeply and whose legacy will endure in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
