Charles D. Hazard, 88, passed away on May 17, 2024, at Keystone Villa in Fleetwood.
He was born on April 20, 1936, in Bristol PA to his parents, Charles Howard Hazard
and Marion Jane (Moon) Hazard.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 10:00 AM - 11:00
AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM in the Milkins Trymbiski Funeral Home,
4914 Kutztown Rd. Temple.
The burial will occur on Friday, June 7 2024, at Fallsington Friends Meeting House
Cemetery in Fallsington, PA at 1:00 PM.
He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He met
his wife, Natalie, through the Church and they were married on December 10, 1976 in
Kensington, Maryland, having their vows exchanged in the DC Temple of The Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with a later reception in Brooklyn, New York.
Together, they shared 45 years of marriage filled with love and cherished memories.
From 1994-95 they served a one-year LDS mission together in Ennis, Montana.
Charles and Natalie also enjoyed traveling the world together. Their trips abroad
including Germany, England, and Spain.
Charles grew up in a stone farmhouse on the historic Woodbourne homestead, in
Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The house, built by his Quaker ancestors in 1757
was torn down in 1968 to make room for the I-95 and Rte. 1 bypass. Charles had
an avid interest in genealogy and included in his lineage John Winthrop, the first
governor of Massachusetts.
Charles was a 1954 graduate of Westtown Boarding School in West Chester,
Pennsylvania. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree and Master’s Degree in
Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University, where he also taught as an
adjunct faculty member. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the
Vietnam war. Later, Charles worked as a nuclear mechanics engineer and later was a
3 rd generation surveyor following his father and grandfather.
Charles had his pilot license and he and Natalie enjoyed flying around the country in a
his private Cesna plane, visiting places such as Colorado and Vermont. Charlie liked to
navigate by using road maps and would fly his plane above the highways and roads to
his destination.
Charles was an accomplished artist working in many mediums including watercolor and
drawing.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Natalie Allen (Smith) Hazard, who passed away
on February 21, 2021. He is survived by his sister Marie L. Hazard Weinman Procter, his
nephews Christopher A. Procter and Carleton Sollars Procter, his niece Elizabeth Hazard
Weinman and grand-niece Tiana Weinman.
