Charles I. Strause

Charles I. Strause 82 of Bern Township died Sunday morning in the Berks Leisure Living Center.

He is survived by his second wife, Margaret L. (Brown) Snyder Strause a guest at Country Meadows. They had been married fifty-one years. His first wife, Mary (Gotshall) predeceased him.

Charles was born in Bern Township on May 17, 1931. He was the son of the late Paul F. and Stella M. (Kauffman) Strause.

Surviving in addition to his wife are the following children; Diane E wife of Craig A. Lash of Bern Township, Cindy S. Adams partner of Elaine M. Wenger of Bern Township, Samuel F. husband of Linda Strause of Bern Township, and Donald E. husband of Vicki Strause of Center Township.

Charles had nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

He, also, is survived by a brother, Carl I. Strause of Oley, and a sister, Doris J. widow of Doyle Yenser of Bern Township.

A sister, Emma Kramer, predeceased him.

Charles was a member of Bern United Church of Christ. He was the last surviving charter member of the Bern Lions Club where he served as president and secretary.
Charles was a member of the Bern Township Lions Recreational Association.

Charles was a very committed worker having a dairy farm in Bern Township for twenty-five years. In addition he owned Charles I. Strause Excavating for twenty years.

Funeral services from the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, Bernville on Thursday at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend James Roth officiating. Interment in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township.

Family will receive friends on Thursday 9:30 until time of services.
