David R. Weiss

Feb 24, 1939 — Aug 23, 2026

Bernville, PA

David R. Weiss, known affectionately as “Beagle Man” and “Davey the Tool Man” and perhaps his favorite nickname, "gramps" passed away on August 23, 2026, at Laurel Center Nursing Home. He was born on February 24, 1939, in Pine Grove, Pennsylvania.

A 1957 graduate of Pine Grove High School, David continued his education at Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute. He built a long working life through skill, dedication, and pride in his craft. He worked as a machinist and later as a Tool Repairman at Dana for 18 years. After retiring from Dana, he went on to work as a custodian for the Tulpehocken School District, a job he loved and took great pride in.

David was also a proud United States Army veteran. Throughout his life, he remained connected to his community and his interests. He was a proud member of the Steel Workers Union and was a member of the Northkill Rod and Gun Club and the Mt. Pleasant Fire Company. He especially loved hunting and fishing in every season. True to the nickname “Beagle Man,” he loved nothing more than running his beagles through the Game Lands, a pastime that brought him deep enjoyment and became one of the things for which he was warmly remembered.

Above all, David will be remembered by those who loved him most. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Beatrice Weiss. He also leaves behind his children: his son Dave C. Weiss and his wife, Dawn; his son Mark Weiss and his wife, Mary; and his daughter Kathy Keppley and her husband, Michael. His family continued to grow through the generations, and he is also survived by his grandchildren, Brandon, Chris, Amanda, Heather, and Nichole, as well as his great-grandchildren, David, Heidi, and Haley. He is further survived by his brother, Warren Weiss and his wife, Nancy.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Weiss, and his mother, Rose Magyar Weiss.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a viewing on August 31, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 North Main Street, Bernville, PA 19506.
