Dolores A Hildebrand

Dolores Anne Hildebrand, 98, nee Stengel, of Reading, PA, went home to be with her LORD and Savior on August 26, 2026. Born in Philadelphia to Edna B. Stengel and raised in Reading, PA, she devoted her life to her faith, family and friends.

'Lori' graduated from Reading High School and East Stroudsburg College, earning a degree in Health and Physical Education. After getting married, she dedicated herself to being a devoted wife and mother & cared for her in-laws until their death. As an active member of her church, she served as the Director of Christian Education and Vacation Bible School, taught Sunday School, served as a deaconess, a church board member and sang in the choir.

Lori worked as a Health and Physical Education teacher for 25 years in Muhlenberg Twp. School District. She loved the students, staff and community and enjoyed running year-round girls" intramurals sports at the Jr. High level, as she wanted to share her love of sports and give all girls the opportunity to participate. She also taught high school level and took pleasure in running the Girls' Athletic Association (GAA), as well as the Muhlenberg Twp. Adult Volleyball League for many years, continuing into her retirement.

One of Lori's fondest memories growing up was playing softball for the 'Pike Maidens' or Piker Maids, a powerhouse women's amateur softball team based in Reading, PA, during the 1930s and 1940s. They won multiple Pennsylvania state championships and produced top-tier talent who advanced to professional ranks. It was there, that a Reading School District girls' physical education teacher recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a college degree and career in health and physical education.

Lori is survived by her two children: Michael Hildebrand (Linda) of Wernersville, PA and Susan Kegerise (Steve) of Spring Twp., PA; beloved by her four grandchildren: Matthew Kegerise, Lindsey Schulert (Jordan), Daniel Kegerise (Jessica) and Jennifer Meader (Jason), as well as her nine great- grandchildren: Elizabeth Kegerise, Emma, Hazel and Edward Schulert, Josiah and Jaiden Kegerise, Micah, Whitlea and Gwenivere Meader.

Lori is pre-deceased by her identical twin sister and best friend, Margaret Christ. Together they traveled the world during their retirement, along with their beloved uncle, Nicholas Stengel.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Milkins Trymbiski Funeral Home at 11:00 am, 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple, PA 19560 with Pastor Frederick Bell officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 am until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Berks Heim Resident Fund, 1011 Berks Rd., Leesport, PA 19533. Lori"s family would like to thank the staff (real-life angels) at Berks Heim, A-1 Wing and Tower Health at Home Hospice Care for their excellence in providing comfort, support and compassionate care during life's most difficult moments.
