Edgar D. "Ed" Wert Jr

Edgar "Ed" D. Wert, Jr., 65, of Laureldale, passed away Tuesday, February 2nd in Penn State St. Joseph Medical Center of natural causes.

Ed is married to Marietta (Gustantino) Wert.

Born in York PA, he is the son of Lorraine (Spangler) Wert of Ephrata and the late Edgar D. Wert, Sr.

He graduated from Ephrata High School and Juniata College.

He served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

Ed started his professional career at Family Guidance Center in Reading as a Therapist. He then was a intensive mental health case manager for Service Access Management Inc.

Most recently Ed was a mental health case manager for folks with persistent mental health conditions. He was planning to retire this summer.

Ed was a active member of Christ Church United Church of Christ in Temple. Ed loved cooking, especially for church functions. He served as a elder, served on consistory, was on "The Kitchen Krew", and loved singing in the choir.
He was a devoted Muhlenberg High School Football Fan. His favorite times included watching and talking sports with his family and friends.

He loved spending time with his family on vacations in Cape May, NJ.

Surviving along with his wife, Marietta, is a daughter, Christine Wert Radka, wife of 2nd Lt. Dylan J. Radka of Columbus, Mississippi.

There are three siblings, Sharon Owens, Geoffrey Wert and wife Diana, and Timothy Wert and wife Carolyn.
Nieces, Wendy Wert Button and husband Kevin, Shelby and Madison Button and Emily Wert.
Nephews, Scott Owens and wife Alex, Jeffrey Owens, Thomas Owens, and Jonathan Wert.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 6th at noon in Christ Church United Church of Christ, 4870 Kutztown Rd., Temple, PA 19560 with Rev. Dr. Harry L. Serio officiating.

A viewing will be held on Saturday in the CHURCH from 10 am until time of service.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Reading Mental Health Alliance, 1234 Penn Ave., Wyomissing, PA 19610.

The Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc., Temple is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
