Eleanor Jane Schoener, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on July 10, 2026, in the Reading Hospital, at the age of 92. Born on August 19, 1933, Eleanor lived a long and meaningful life guided by compassion, service to others, and deep dedication to her family.
The daughter of Edwin and Helen (Geiger) Eisenhart, both of whom preceded her in death, Eleanor was shaped from an early age by strong values of kindness and resilience. She was a nurturing sister to Margaret Quigley, who also predeceased her, and over the years built a family deeply proud of her legacy.
She graduated from the Reading School of Nursing in 1955, marking the beginning of what would become a distinguished career in nursing. For over 30 years, Eleanor served as a nurse. She retired from her profession in the early 1990s, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and selfless service.
Beyond her remarkable career, Eleanor’s life was characterized by her devotion to her loved ones. She was a cherished wife to the late Ronald M. K. Schoener, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage at his time of passing in 2014, and a loving mother to her sons, Jon M. Schoener, husband of Beth, and Eric R. Schoener, husband of Cathy, who survive her, as well as her daughter, Gretchen Schoener, who passed away before her. Eleanor was also a proud grandmother to Alex Schoener, husband of Emily, Zachary Schoener, fiancé of Megan Pechar, Kitt Schoener, fiancé of Addison Lash, and Will Schoener, husband of Madeline, and one great grandson, Liam Schoener, each of whom carry forward her memory.
A woman of faith and community spirit, Eleanor was an active member of St. John Hain’s Church in Wernersville. Through her involvement, she found camaraderie, solace, and spiritual fulfillment, enriching both her own life and the lives of those around her. In earlier years, she also found great joy in gardening.
Eleanor’s life was marked by dedication—to her calling, to her church, and most especially to the family she loved so dearly. Her legacy of kindness and devotion will live on through her children, grandchildren and great grandson, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.
