Eugene Jay Manmiller

Eugene Jay Manmiller, 90, of Temple, passed away Wednesday, in Complete Care At Berkshire. He was a resident at Berkshire Commons since April 2021.

Eugene was married to the late Charlotte “Fern” (Dennison) Manmiller.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Victor and Edna (Heiter) Manmiller.

Eugene graduated from Muhlenberg Twp. High School in 1949 and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He began his employment career as a carpenter and worked his way up to General Superintendent, last  employed by Perry Construction Company.

He was involved in many local construction projects including, Kutztown University Planetarium and dormitories and the completion of Muhlenberg High School.

He was formerly a member of Temple Borough Council for many years and served as President for several years.

He loved going dancing at the Northmont Club with his very dear lady friend, Janet Brisan.

He enjoyed vacationing in Dagsboro Delaware at the Tuckahoe Acres Camping Resort and traveling to numerous islands in the Caribbean, especially Aruba, with the late "Sally" Long.

He was a Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees fan.

He was a lifetime member of the Temple Fire Co. and a 70- year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.

Surviving is a loving son and family, Eugene C. Manmiller and wife Jane (Long)  Manmiller of Temple and his loving grandchildren, Charlotte R. and Aubrey M. Manmiller.

He is predeceased by his siblings, Olivia “Gladys” Diefenderfer, Fern Reichert, Joyce Lutz, John Manmiller, Edwin Manmiller, and Harry Manmiller also Lloyd Manwiller, Ph.D. and Roy Manmiller.

He is also predeceased by a son, Michael G. Manmiller.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family in the Milkins Trymbiski Funeral Home in Temple with burial in Good Shepherd Cemetery in Tuckerton with U. S. Marine Corps. Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society, 1801 North 11th Street, Reading, PA 19604.
