Eugene R. Schaeffer

Eugene R. Schaeffer, 82, of Upper Bern Twp., passed away Thursday, May 12th in the Orwigsburg Center in Orwigsburg.

Eugene was married to Sara L. (Kramer) Schaeffer. Eugene and Sara were married June 30, 1954 and celebrated sixty one years of marriage.

Born in Bernville, he was the son of the late John and Grace (Balthaser) Schaeffer.

He served in the U. S. Army. After being discharged from the Army he was employed by Reading Aviation for many years.

He was the owner and operator of Schaeffer Enterprise in Bernville where he enjoyed working in his shop.

He was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church in Bernville.

He enjoyed boating and fishing. Eugene and his wife Sara enjoyed snowmobiling and spending time in Maryland.

Additional survivors include three sisters, Jeanette Adams, widow of Richard of Centerport, Barbara Bond, wife of Richard of Bernville, and Susan Breidegan, wife of Henry of Bernville.

There are several nieces and nephews.

Also, two godchildren, Teresa Snyder of Hamburg and Joshua Bowers of Newmanstown.

A funeral service will be Thursday, May 19th at 11 am in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main St., Bernville with Rev. Robert Argot officiating.

Interment will follow in Haags Cemetery in Bernville.

There will be a viewing on Wednesday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 pm and Thursday morning from 10 am until time of service in the funeral home.
