Fern E. (Moyer) Shuman, born on December 17, 1931, and formerly of Maidencreek Township, passed away on April 22, 2026 at Laureldale Skilled Nursing Center where she had been a resident since November.

She was born in Maidencreek Township and was the daughter of the late William H. and Elsie L. (Heinly) Moyer. Fern was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Lee E. Shuman; daughter, Norma Boyer; and brother, Lloyd Moyer.

A graduate of Kutztown High School, Fern was deeply dedicated to her community. She was active in the Blandon Lioness Club and the Blandon Ladies Auxiliary. Fern was a long-time member of Maidencreek Church, where she served on numerous committees and enjoyed singing in the choir. She also, alongside her husband, served as sexton of the church for many years. She retired from Andrew Maier Elementary School where she worked in the cafeteria. Family was the center of Fern’s world. She found great joy in raising her five children and cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her creativity was evident in her passion for crafting and creating quilts, with many loved ones treasuring her handmade gifts.
