George S. Gechter, 96, of Bernville passed away on Monday in the residence of his daughter, Irene, with whom he had resided for the past nine years.
Born in Exeter Twp., he was married to Elsie Mae Hartman, who died on July 28, 2004.
George retired as a farm manager at Ro-Ria Farm in 1984. He was previously employed by St. Lawrence Dairy and Robbie and Lee Katz dairy farm.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth D. husband of Lorraine F. Gechter of Womelsdorf and George C. husband of Rosemary D. Gechter of Kenhorst. There are also three daughters, Jeanette A. Gechter of Robesonia, Susan M. widow of Harry E. Keeney of Bernville, and Irene A. widow of Terry James of Bernville.
Also surviving is one brother, Clarence of Greenfields and two sisters, Bertha Gechter of Fleetwood and Linda Trexler of Macungie.
George's Australian Blue dog named Star has also survived him.
George was predeceased by three brothers; Leroy, Woodrow, and Limberg Gechter. Also, a sister, Anna Gechter, predeceased him.
A service will take place on Thursday at 10:30 AM at Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main St., Bernville, with Reverend Robert Argot officiating. Interment will follow at Spies Church Cemetery in Alsace. Family and friends may call Thursday morning from 9:30 until the time of the service.
