Harold R Gassert

Harold R. Gassert, 79, of Bernville, passed away on May 28, 2026.

Born on May 5, 1947, he was the son of the late Harold H. and Margaret (Peiffer) Gassert.

Harold was a 1965 graduate of Bethel High School and attended East Stroudsburg College for one year. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a First Lieutenant during the Vietnam War, serving as Commanding Officer of the 2/24th in the 9th Infantry Division. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

Following his military service, Harold worked as a tool and die maker for more than 25 years with DANA Corporation and Bethlehem Steel.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and basketball.

Harold is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gloria (Hoyer) Gassert; his sons, Troy A. Hoyer and his companion, Mary Link, and Corey Gassert and his wife, Patty; his grandson, Colt Hoyer; three step-grandchildren; his brother, Sherwood Gassert; his sister, Pamela Madeira her husband David and their extended family.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 am at Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main St. Bernville, PA.
