Helen M Stufflet

Dec 9, 1938 — Jun 18, 2026

Helen M. “Chickie” Stufflet departed this life on June 18, 2026, closing a chapter rich with kindness, warmth, and steadfast devotion to those she held dear. Born on December 9, 1938, Helen was blessed with a spirit brimming with affection and a zest for the simple joys that grace our lives.

To know Helen was to know a woman whose heart inexhaustibly reached toward those around her.  She shared an exceptional bond with her sister, Anna Lousie Stufflet. Described often as inseparable companions, their days were spent in joyful camaraderie. Together, they delighted in the timeless humor of classic comedies such as The Three Stooges and The Andy Griffith Show, laughter echoing through their home and brightening even the simplest of moments. Anna’s unwavering care and devotion as Chickie’s caretaker over many years stands as a testament to their mutual affection—a bond that enriched and sustained them through the seasons of life.

Helen’s circle of care stretched lovingly beyond her immediate family. Ronald Bair, a family friend of remarkable constancy, stood by the Stufflet sisters for over four decades. Ronald’s kindness was woven into daily acts—escorting Helen and Anna to doctor’s appointments, handling errands, tending to finances, and laboring as the ever-dependable handyman. His steadfast presence was a blessing treasured by those who relied upon his gentle strength.

Within her sphere of friendship, Brenda and Doug Wentzel figured as a valued companion, adding further depth to the relationships Chickie held dear.

Throughout her life, the memory of loved ones lost remained near to Chickie’s heart. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Etta A. (Shurr) Stufflet, and cherished grandmother, Mamie Shurr, whose legacies lived on in the values and traditions Chickie so warmly upheld.

Her gentleness extended to all of God’s creatures, especially her adored cats—Pumpkin, Whiskers, Daisy, Pansy, and Bootsy—each one holding a special place in her heart.

Those who were fortunate enough to share in Chickie’s later seasons extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Berks Heim, Wing A3, whose attentive care and warmth offered comfort and dignity throughout her stay.

The memory of Helen "Chickie" M. Stufflet will be honored at a viewing on Monday, June 29, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 North Main Street, Bernville, PA. Friends and family are invited to gather and pay tribute to her remarkable life. Following the service, burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. at Bern Cemetery, Bern Township, Bernville Rd, 1504 Old Bernville Road, Leesport, PA—a peaceful resting place for a soul who brought so much peace and joy to others.

As we bid farewell to Helen, we remember a legacy defined not by grand gestures, but by the steady, loving acts that formed the very soul of her character. Chickie’s laughter, her unwavering loyalty, her gentle companionship—these gifts endure, cherished by all who had the privilege of loving and being loved by her.
