Irvin J. Lengle

September 27, 1920 — December 27, 2013

Irvin J. Lengle, 93, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, passed away Friday evening December 27th in his residence.

He was married to the late Margaret (Zebertavage) Lengle who passed away July 2, 2012.

Born in Pottsville, he was the son of the late George B. Lengle, Sr. and Beulah (Dixon) Lengle.

He was a brakeman and conductor for the Pennsylvania Railroad, then Penn Central, and then Conrail for thirty seven years retiring in 1982.
He was a woodworker and handyman able to repair anything he attempted. He enjoyed watching and rooting for the Phillies.
In earlier years Irvin, Margaret, and their family and friends found much enjoyment at their bungalow along the Schuylkill River.
He served in the Army during World War II, stationed in Scotland.

Surviving are his three children, Thomas C. Lengle, husband of Sherry D. of Shillington, James I. Lengle, husband of Patricia S. of Arlington, VA, and Susan L. Lengle of Mt Penn. He is predeceased by a daughter, Anne M. Lengle. There are five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Also he is survived by his siblings, George Lengle, Jr., Harvey A. Lengle, and Alma Delp all of Florida. He was predeceased by siblings, Marlyn W. Lengle and Edna Metroka.

A viewing will be held Saturday January 4th from 9 am until 10 am in the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc., 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am in Gethsemane Cemetery Chapel of Resurrection, 3139 Kutztown Rd., Reading, PA. Entombment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Covenant Home Care and Hospice for their excellent services, above and beyond, that they provided for Irvin and his family.
