Janet L. (Schlappich) Dengler

Janet L. (Schlappich) Dengler, 76, of Muhlenberg Twp., passed away following a short stay at Reading Hospital Tower Health. Born in Bernville, she was the daughter of Elsie (Schlappich) Bare of Bernville.

For 28 ½ years Janet served as Benefits Coordinator for the County of Berks.

Janet enjoyed gambling and bingo, watching the Hallmark and Lifetime channels, shopping at Boscov’s, and spending time with friends and family. She loved baseball and especially enjoyed watching her beloved Boston Red Sox and Brooklyn Dodgers.

In addition to her mother, Janet is survived by her children Michele Harding wife of Thomas Fries of Leesport and Stephen Harding husband of Jennifer Harding of Columbus, GA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Stephanie Harding and Cayla Harding; her great-grandchild Ava Ashmore; her siblings Lee Bare husband of Jeanie Bare of Womelsdorf, Irvin Bare Jr. (Junior) of Bernville, Mary Jane Moyer wife of Jim Moyer of Bernville, and Frank Bare husband of June Bare of Bethel.

A Celebration of Janet’s Life will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N Main Street, Bernville. Friends and family are welcome to call from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Rev. Dr. Daniel Lute will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered in Janet’s memory to the American Lung Association of PA, 2200 Hamilton Street, Allentown, PA 18104.
