Leon W. Baer

November 1, 1933 — January 15, 2018

Leon W. Baer, 84, of Jefferson Township, passed away Monday, January 15th in his residence.

Leon was the spouse of the late Nancy Long who passed away February 17, 2011.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Leon Baer and Luella (Kissling) Baer Harbonic.

Leon was raised by his step father, John Harbonic.

Leon worked as a cook in his family's business Luella's Sandwich Shop in Jefferson Twp.

In earlier years he was employed by Dana Corporation.

Leon was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. He especially enjoyed watching the Philles, Eagles, and Flyers.

Leon really loved the time he spent with all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include three step sons, Michael R. Long and wife Pearl Long of Strausstown, and Scott and Timothy Long.

There are seven step grandchildren, Cody Long, Amanda Stoudt, Ashley (Stoudt) Martin, Courtney and Joshua Long, Jim Bennett, and Joey Pecika.

Also, there are four step great grandchildren, Jasmine and Jade Massey, Paxton Long, and Dylan Hamm.

Leon was predeceased by a step daughter, Michelle Stoudt.

A dear friend, Joey Massey, assisted in the care of Leon.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care they provided for Leon.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 20th at 11 am in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main St., Bernville with Reverend Robert Argot officiating.

A viewing will be held on Saturday morning from 9:30 am until time of service in the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service on Saturday in Leesport Cemetery in Leesport.
