Margaret M. Wicklein, age 87, a resident of Berkshire Center, Exeter Twp., died Sunday morning after a lengthy illness. She was a resident of South Temple for nearly 60 years.
Born in Reading in 1930, Margaret Aileen Morgan, she was the daughter of Mildred Harvey Morgan and Warren Thomas Morgan. "Peggy", to relatives and friends, attended grade school and
junior high school in Reading before the family moved to Indiana. They relocated to Seneca Falls, New York where she graduated high school at Mynderse Academy in 1948.
Peggy came back to Berks County and attended Kutztown State Teacher's College, earning her Art Degree and re-uniting with old friends. She did substitute teaching in the Wilson and Schuylkill Valley districts until a full time art position became available at Schuylkill Valley High School. She would teach high school, middle school, and elementary art classes in the district for 29½ years retiring in January 1992.
Margaret was preceded in death by former husband William G. Stolz, and her husband of nearly 45 years, Robert M. Wicklein in 2013. "Wick", as he was known to most, was a 1948 graduate of Reading High School as were many of her childhood friends. The two were married in December 1968.
Surviving is son Wm. Allen Stolz, husband of Lorraine M. (Burgert) Stolz of Oley; also grandsons Gregory D., Oley, and Bradley T., Warrington.
Private family services are entrusted to Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc., Temple.
Interment will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens at the convenience of the family.
