Margarete K. Bucca

Margarete K. Bucca, 90, a resident of Maidencreek Place, passed away early Thursday morning, February 1, 2018. Born in Trier, Germany, Margarete was the only daughter of Matthias and Katharina (Schrick) Hank. She was predeceased by her three brothers. Margarete was a loving wife to the late Anthony Bucca who died in 2006.

Margarete met her husband, Anthony, during WWII. She left Germany to start her life and raise a family in the Muhlenberg Township area. Margarete was a talented seamstress. She worked as a sewing machine operator at Berkshire Knitting Mill and in retirement she sewed clothes and crocheted hats and blankets for her grandchildren. Margarete was an active member of the Nice-Knitters of Muhlenberg and she enjoyed volunteering with Girl Scouts. She adored her grandchildren, having a special relationship with each of them.

Margarete is survived by her two daughters: Katharine T. Eshbach, wife of Wilson of Reading and Susan A. Frederick, wife of Michael of Reading and five grandchildren: Tracy Wiand, Michael Eshbach, Matthew Frederick, Christopher Frederick, and Nicole Ortiz. She is also survived by nine great- grandchildren: Gabriel Wiand, Katie Wiand, Nathaniel Wiand, Ethan Wiand, Isaac Wiand, Mollie Frederick, Max Frederick, Carter Frederick, and Charlotte Frederick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 3125 Kutztown Rd, Reading, PA 19605.

A viewing will be prior to mass from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. in Milkins Giles Funeral Home, 4914 Kutztown Rd. Temple, Pa 19560. Interment will immediately follow the mass in Gethsemane Cemetery, Reading, Pa.

Margarete's family is grateful for the extraordinary care and kindness of the Maidencreek Place staff.
