Maria Haas

July 30, 1950 — April 9, 2026

Reading, PA

Maria Haas, a beloved mother, devoted wife, passed away on April 9, 2026, in Reading, Pennsylvania. Born on July 30, 1950, in Ascoli Piceno, Italy, Maria’s journey was marked by resilience, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her family.

Maria immigrated to the United States at the tender age of five, joining her parents, Quirino and Giuseppina (Pantaloni) DiMarco, who had established Quirino DiMarco Mushroom Farm in Temple, Pennsylvania. As a young child, Maria contributed to the family business, helping nurture the farm that became a cornerstone of their new life in America.

A proud graduate of Muhlenberg High School’s Class of 1968, Maria went on to attend Albright College, where she earned her teaching degree in 1972. Her academic accomplishments were among her proudest, reflecting her determination to build a promising future for herself. Later in her career, Maria applied her sharp intellect and caring nature to roles at Meridian Bank and Travelers Insurance Company in the claims department, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and service.

Maria’s life was enriched by her deep love for those closest to her. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Walter J. Haas, Jr., who passed away earlier in 2026. Together, they built a wonderful life grounded in mutual support and joy. Maria’s greatest priority was always to care for Walter and their family, an endeavor she fulfilled with heartfelt devotion.

Her love extended beyond her immediate family to her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, John Fioravanti and his wife April of Temple, Pennsylvania, and David Fioravanti and his wife Julie of West Chester, Pennsylvania. Maria’s legacy further lives on in her seven grandchildren—Joseph, Nathan and his wife Jordan, Sofia, Dante, Zachary, Tyler, and Nicholas—and two great-grandchildren, Valentino and Francesca, all of whom brought immeasurable joy and purpose to her life.

Those who knew Maria remember her as loving and feisty, qualities that painted her character beautifully. Though small in stature, Maria’s spirited nature was a source of warmth and strength to her family and friends. She found happiness in traveling back to Italy with her mother and visiting family, exploring vibrant cities such as Las Vegas and New York City, where visits to Radio City Music Hall and Broadway shows were among her favorite pastimes. Her enthusiasm for travel and new experiences was matched only by her devotion to home and family. And when Maria had some alone time, she enjoyed a quiet day of reading.

Maria Haas’s life was a testament to perseverance and love. From her early beginnings in Italy to building a life and family in America, her journey was one of courage and devotion. She will be remembered fondly for her spirited heart, and the unwavering love she bestowed upon her family.

Maria’s passing leaves a profound absence in the hearts of those who loved her, yet her memory endures in the many lives she touched. She rejoins her husband Walter and her parents Quirino and Giuseppina in eternal peace, leaving behind a legacy cherished by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her life reminds us all of the power of love, family, and the enduring spirit to overcome challenges with grace and determination. Maria Haas will forever remain an inspiration to those who knew her.
