Mary E Mohn

March 16, 1955 — October 10, 2024

Mary E. Mohn, a devoted educator and cherished member of her community, passed away on October 10, 2024 at the age of 69. Born on March 16, 1955, Mary dedicated her life to teaching and inspiring countless students throughout her career.

Mary's educational journey began at Tulpehocken High School, where she graduated in 1973. A gifted athlete, she participated in field hockey, basketball, and tennis during her high school years. She then went on to East Stroudsburg University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in education, further enhancing her expertise with a Master’s degree from Wilkes University in 2003.

From 1977 until her retirement in 2011, Mary taught Health and Physical Education at Tulpehocken High School. Her commitment to her students extended beyond the classroom; she was an assistant softball coach, coached field hockey, and served as an advisor for senior projects. Mary's contributions to the school community were recognized, and she was proud to be part of the Tulpehocken Athletic Hall of Fame Committee.

An active member of Friedens Lutheran Church in Bernville, Mary participated in numerous church activities and made lasting connections with her fellow members. She found joy in solving crossword puzzles, sudoku, and playing card games, and had a fondness for the shows on MeTv. A passionate golfer, Mary played her way through the alphabet of golf courses across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Florida, achieving her goal of playing 100 different courses.

Mary is remembered as organized, logical, intelligent, kind, and caring—qualities that endeared her to both her students and friends alike. Her legacy is one of dedication to education and a genuine concern for the well-being of others.

She is survived by her sister, Betty L., wife of Dennis Pugh, of Sparta, NC; her uncle, Kenneth, husband of Eileen Mohn, of Bernville; and her aunt, Doris Moyer, of Phoebe Berks Village. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert G. and Arlene Mohn, and her beloved dog, Jasper.
