Michael J McCann, Sr.

January 23, 1944 — February 12, 2026

Bernville

Michael McCann Sr., 82, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, surrounded by those who loved him most in his final moments. His life was a testament to faith, devotion, and quiet strength. A man of deep values, Michael lived each day with gratitude, humility, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. His steady presence brought comfort and guidance to many. Michael left this world the same way he lived in it – with dignity, grace, and a heart full of love.

Michael devoted 35 years of his life to his career as a Communication Supervisor for the Reading Railroad and later for Norfolk Southern, retiring in October 2003. His work ethic and dedication were mirrored in other aspects of his life, particularly in his service to his church, Friedens Lutheran Church in Bernville, where he was involved in nearly every facet. He served as past President of the church council, shared his voice in the choir, and contributed in countless ways that reflected his commitment to his faith and community.

A graduate of Collingswood High School in 1962, Michael later pursued a degree in Computer Electronics from RACC. His background was complemented by his service as a proud member of the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life that befitted the values of diligence and patriotism he carried throughout his years.

Michael had many hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He was not only an avid photographer and skilled guitarist but also enjoyed hunting and was a Mummer in his teens. He embraced life with a passion and gave his time and love freely, particularly to his family, who were his greatest treasure. He loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing each moment and memory they created together.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 47 years, Deborah L. (Erb) McCann, and their children: Michael J. McCann, Jr., husband of Sheila; Michelle A. Monzo; Christina N. Wehr, wife of Matthew; and his daughter-in-law, Roberta (Belock) McCann. His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren: Megan, wife of Taylor Charles; Ashley, wife of Thomas Malik; Dylan; Michael III; Kaleb; Brandon; and Tyler. He also enjoyed the delight of his great-grandchildren, Ava, Aria, Leighton, and Caden.

In addition to his family, Michael is survived by his brothers, Gregory J. McCann, husband of Gary Cress, and Joseph G. McCann, alongside his stepmother, Dorothy E. (Kelly) McCann.

Michael was preceded in death by his son, Christopher M. McCann, and his stepsister, Barbara Richards.

The McCann family will honor Michael's memory with a visitation on February 21, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a celebration of life service at 2:00 PM at Friedens Lutheran Church, located at 537 N Main St, Bernville, PA. A meal and a time of fellowship will follow in the fellowship hall after completion of the service.

A private interment will take place at a later date at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Michael J. McCann's presence will be profoundly missed. His heart, kindness, and dedication to family, faith, and service have left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His spirit lives on in the myriad of lives he touched and the love he shared.
