Richard E. "Dick" Regar

May 24, 1926 — November 13, 2013

Richard E. "Dick" Regar, 87, of Wyomissing, PA, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 in his residence. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Edward B. and Florence L. (Milkins) Regar. He was the husband of Doris A. (Strausser) Regar, with whom he was married to for 55 years.

A 1944 graduate of Reading High School, he attended Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute and was a Penn State University alumnus. He played baseball for many local city league teams and was also a 1943 State finalist with the Gregg Post Keystone Juniors. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific, and was awarded the Victory Medal, Pacific Theater Medal, and the American Theater Ribbon.

He was the owner of Oxford Display Company, a leader in visual merchandising services for men's clothing stores, until his retirement in 2003. He was also a sales representative for Duro-O-Test Lighting. He was a founding member of the Van Reed Football Program, Past President of the Van Reed Recreation Association, Past President of the Sinking Spring Lions Club, life member of the Reading-Berks Basketball Oldtimers, and a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Wilshire.

He is survived by his son Todd Richard Regar and his wife Elizabeth of Mechanicsburg, PA, his grandsons, Derek J. Regar, Jack M. Regar, and Chad M. Regar, and his niece Sandra (Rothenberger) Dickey. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris, who died September 20, 2013, his daughter, Arden Lynn Regar in 2003, and his sister Elaine B. Rothenberger in 2001.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, November, 18 at 7:00 PM in St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 2901 Curtis Road, West Lawn, PA 19609 with a visitation beginning at 6:30 PM. Burial, with military honors, in Zion Spies Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 212 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018.
