Ronald J. Kendig, 71, of Reading died Thursday evening after a long illness. He was the loving husband of Emilie R. (Buechner) Kendig. They shared a wonderful marriage of fifty years of adventure, travel, outdoors, and mineral collecting.
Ronald was born in West Wyomissing, son of the late Evan L. and Marion W. (Wanner) Kendig.
He was father to Conrad A. of Dresherville, OH; and Christopher S. Kendig of Reading
Ronald graduated from Wilson High in the class of 1965. He also attended Weidner College for three years.
Mr. Kendig was last employed for five years by Threshold as a house manager. He owned Nature's Window, dealers in nature's treasurers for thirty years.
He was a past member of the Berks Mineralogical Society, Pennsylvania Earth Science Association, and the National Spelunking Society. He loved to guide, give tours, and speak to groups at the Reading Museum, Nolde Forest, and Schuylkill Canal Lock #60.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 16th at 11:00 am at the Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, located at 4th and Windsor, in the Heritage Room, with the Reverend Robert Argot presiding. Ronald's family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
Cremation arrangement are being entrusted to Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Temple.
