Ruth Ann Koenig, née Weaver, passed away peacefully at her home on June 16, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 2, 1945, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Ruth led a life marked by dedication, hard work, and deep family devotion.
Ruth attended Lincoln Elementary School from first through eighth grade and later demonstrated her perseverance by completing her GED. Her early years were shaped by the values instilled by her parents, Leroy H. and Irene W. (Zimmerman) Weaver, who have since passed away.
Her professional career was characterized by steadfast commitment. She worked at Anderello Knitting Mills for seven years and devoted fourteen years to Dutchmaid. Subsequently, Ruth embraced entrepreneurship and served as a self-employed cleaner for two decades, demonstrating admirable independence and diligence throughout her working life.
Ruth’s life was enriched by a loving family who cherished her presence and guidance. She was the devoted wife of Karl Koenig. Together they faced life’s joys and challenges with strength and affection. Ruth was a nurturing mother to her children, Richard Scott Burkhart, husband of Jennie, and Ryan S. Burkhart, husband of Lori. Ruth’s family extended to include her stepchildren, Ken K. Koenig and Kris K. Koenig, who also held a special place in her heart.
Her legacy lives on through her granddaughter, Bridget A. Burkhart, and her step-grandson, Ken K. Koenig, Jr., who brought her great joy. Ruth was also a dear sister to Leon Weaver, husband of Dolores; Lester Weaver, husband of Betty; Leroy Weaver, Jr., husband of Terri; and Diane Newswanger, wife of Leon. The bond she shared with her siblings added warmth and strength to her life.
Friends and loved ones are invited to honor and celebrate the life of Ruth Ann Koenig during the viewing at Kirkhoff Funeral Home, located at 206 North Main Street, Bernville, PA 19506, on June 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., in the same location.
Burial will take place in Haag Cemetery
Ruth Ann Koenig’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and service. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who knew her, and her legacy will continue through the family and friends she held dear. She will be remembered with respect and admiration for the quiet strength and unwavering warmth she brought into the lives around her.
