Samuel W. "Wayne" Hardy, 71, passed away on October 4, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 13, 1954, in Selma, Alabama.
A 1972 graduate of Selma High School, Samuel went on to build a life marked by hard work, service, and devotion to those he loved. He was a proud United States Army veteran. Over the years, he worked as a machinist for Troutman Machine Shop for many years, and later as a truck driver, first for Cardinal Logistics and then for Redner's. Through each chapter of his working life, he was known as a dependable and dedicated man.
Samuel found great happiness in the simple and lasting pleasures of life. He loved camping with his wife and spent many enjoyable times traveling to local campgrounds, especially Circle M, where he worked for a number of years. In his younger days, he served as an umpire for Little League Baseball, giving his time and energy to the game and to young players. He also volunteered as fire police for Goodwill Fire company before it turned in to Muhlenburg Fire company, which he was proud of. Samuel was also a devoted sports fan who loved football, especially cheering for the Eagles, Penn State, and Alabama Crimson Tide. He enjoyed following all Philadelphia sports, with a special fondness for the Phillies.
Above all, Samuel will be remembered for the love he shared with his family. He is survived by his wife, Darlene J. (Border) Hardy; his son, Jared Hardy; and his grandchildren, Skylar, Aiden, and Wyatt Hardy. He is also survived by his brothers, Ronald Hardy and his wife, Anne, John Hardy, Larry Hardy and his wife, Carol, and Russell Hardy.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Sara (Hudson) Hardy, and by his brother, Michael Hardy.
Funeral Service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Samuel's name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, support.Wounded Warrior Project.org, or to a Veteran's Association of your choice.
Samuel W. Hardy’s life was one of steady commitment, deep family love, and enjoyment of the people and pastimes that meant the most to him. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
