Scott .J Lechki

Scott J. Lechki, a talented and creative carpenter, esteemed karate instructor, and beloved figure in the martial arts community, passed away on February 7, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on June 4, 1952, Scott's life was a remarkable journey filled with dedication, passion, and an unwavering commitment to others.

As a Grandmaster in martial arts, Scott earned immense respect in the karate world, where he played an instrumental role in training over 200 black belts throughout his career. His profound knowledge of karate and his ability to inspire and cultivate talent in others marked him as a standout instructor and mentor. Scott's legacy in martial arts remains etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege of learning from him.

Beyond the dojo, Scott was also an accomplished carpenter, a trade that showcased his creativity and craftsmanship. His work was characterized by precision and artistry, reflecting his dedication to excellence in all pursuits.

Scott had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, which was evident in his passionate love for fishing, particularly fly fishing. He found joy in the serenity of nature and often shared these experiences with his long-time friends who were not only his fishing partners but also cherished companions throughout his life.

Scott is survived by his sister, Sharron Sandmaier. He also leaves behind a host of long-time friends and fishing partners, as well as his goddaughter, all of whom were touched by his kindness and generosity.

Scott was pre deceased by his longtime companion and partner in life of 36 years, Beverlee Tertel and his parents, John and Rose Marie (Hancharik) Lechki .

In celebrating Scott's life, we honor his many accomplishments, his dedication to teaching karate, and the profound impact he had on the lives of those around him. Though he has departed from this world, his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of martial artists and craftsmen.

A visitation will be held at the Milkins Trymbiski Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb. 18 from 10-11am with a service to follow at 11am.  Burial will be private.
