Sheron “Sheri” Lee Eagle, 79, passed away on April 21, 2024, at the home of her caretaker after battling a
decline in her health for several years.
Sheri was born, the youngest of three daughters, on April 11, 1945, to Elizabeth (McCord) Merget and
Robley Merget. While she was born in Baltimore, MD, she grew up and made her home in Reading, PA.
She graduated from Reading Senior High School and earned an Associate’s Degree in Travel and Tourism
from Reading Area Community College. Sheri was passionate about many things, with education and
learning being at the top of her list.
Sheri was unique in every sense of that word. She was one of a kind. She was her daughter’s hero,
always, as well as her daughter’s first blessing. Sheri lived life on her own terms and really made no
apologies for it. If you did not know Sheri before her illness, you cannot begin to understand what this
journey brought.
Sheri is predeceased by her parents and eldest sister, Barbara N. Napoli. She is survived by her daughter,
Amy S. Merget, her stepdaughter, Stephanie J. Torres, her step-granddaughter, Emmie L. Torres, her
sister, Elizabeth L. Hill, her beloved chocolate Lab, Dixie Rose, and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces
and nephews, cousins, and friends. Sheri’s daughter wishes to express her deepest gratitude to
Stephanie J. Torres for her unconditional love, care, and support for Sheri in the final years and months
of her life.
Sheri’s family takes comfort in their faith that Sheri Eagle is, once again, able to feel like Sheri Eagle. In
lieu of flowers, please make any contributions to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, 5001 Angel Canyon
