Stella Nora Althouse

Stella Nora (Wunder) Althouse, 96, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the Laurel Center in Hamburg.

Born on September 28, 1926, in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Sallie (Knause) Wunder. Stella was married to William J. Althouse, Sr., on October 10, 1942, and was his loving wife until his passing in 2001.

Stella was a beautiful, loving, and caring woman who had the biggest heart. Family was the most important thing in her life. All who spent time with her are blessed to know her love, compassion, and kindness. Stella was the happiest being with family and telling stories. She will always be remembered for her smile, love of Siamese cats, growing flowers, watching game shows, doing word search puzzles, and eating ice cream and doughnuts.

Stella is survived by her grandchildren, Natalie Redd, wife of Kenn, Gloria Maurer, wife of Darryl, Robert Schweitzer, John Schweitzer, and William Althouse III. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Matthew LeVan, Caitlyn LeVan, Sydney Epler, Stevie Domagalski, eight great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Stella was predeceased by her children, William J. Althouse, Jr., Nancy L. Pyle, and Sally Yob; Siblings, John J. Wunder, Harold B. Wunder, Eleanor James, and Ida E. Wunder; Grandchildren, Steven Domagalski, and Joseph Schweitzer.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm with a memorial service beginning at 12:00 noon in the Milkins Trymbiski Funeral Home, 4914 Kutztown Road, Temple.

Burial will take place in Good Shepherd Cemetery.
