Aug 23, 1940 — Oct 7, 2026

Steve Marmarou, Sr. passed away on October 7, 2026, at the age of 86.

Born on August 23, 1940, Steve lived a life marked by dedication to his work, service to his country, devotion to his family, and steady faith. He served in the United States Army and the National Guard during the Vietnam Conflict, answering his country’s call with honor.

Steve built a long and hardworking career with his hands and his leadership. Before retiring, he spent 25 years in the carpentry and building trade. He later served the Reading School District for 25 years, where he retired in 2002 as a Facilities Manager. His strong work ethic and years of service reflected a man who took pride in responsibility and in a job well done.

Outside of work, Steve found happiness in the simple and lasting pleasures of life. He enjoyed fishing in Ocean City, Maryland, a pastime that brought him peace and satisfaction. He was also an avid supporter of his granddaughter Amanda, faithfully following her competitive sports and racing. His presence and encouragement were part of the love he so freely gave to his family. Steve was also a member of Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, where his faith remained an important part of his life.

Above all, Steve will be remembered for the love he had for his family. He is survived by his son, Steve Marmarou, Jr., and Steve’s companion, Debra Troutman; his daughter, Maria Angstadt, and her husband, Paul; his grandchildren, Nicole Taylor, Jonathan Hella, and Amanda Angstadt; and his great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Christian, Cole, and Kate Taylor, and Kashton Hella. Each of them carries forward the memory of a man whose life was rooted in commitment, care, and enduring family bonds.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Marmarou, and his mother, Pauline (Toontas) Marmarou.

Services will be held privately.

Steve Marmarou, Sr. will be remembered with love, gratitude, and respect by all who knew him. His life was one of service, hard work, faith, and deep family pride, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he cherished.
