Willard L. Smith

Willard L. Smith, 90, of Bern Twp., passed away Thursday December 5th in his residence.

He was married to the late Mildred A. (Strause) Smith who passed away in 1982.

Born in Mohnton, he was the son of the late Clayton and Clara (Demming) Smith.

He was a carpenter for forty five years, last employed by Berks Construction Co., Inc. for eleven years.
He was a member of Salem (Belleman's) Church.

He served in the Army during WW II, receiving the Purple Heart.

He was a member of Gregg Post No. 12 American Legion, past president of Bern Twp. Lions Club, the POS of A Washington Camp # 211 of Mohnton, and the Shoey Seniors.
He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan, enjoyed gardening, and raising vegetables.

Surviving is one daughter, Barbara A., wife of Joseph T. Ernesto of Muhlenberg Twp. He is predeceased by a daughter, Norene L. Kupetz and survived by her husband, Edward Kupetz of Schuylkill Co.
There is one brother, Albert Smith, widow of Dorothy of Exeter Twp. And one sister, Edna Steffy, widow of Eugene of Reading.

Also, three grandchildren, A. J. Ernesto, Jennifer Scolastico, and John Kupetz. There are four great grandchildren, Nicholas and Isabelle Scolastico, Alexander Ernesto, and Maci Kupetz.

Willard is also survived by his companion, Ruth Marko.

Funeral services will be Tuesday December 10th at 9:30 AM in the Milkins Giles Funeral Home, Inc. 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple with Rev. Bruce Potteiger officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. There will be a viewing Tuesday morning from 8:30 AM until time of service in the funeral home.
