William Glenn Thiry, 88, husband of Nancy Ann Harris Thiry for 67 years passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at his home in Winchester, Kentucky. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania on July 28, 1934, he was the son of the late Paul W. and Helen V. Linderman Thiry.
At the young age of 17 William joined the marines where he was honorably discharged in 1955. He attended Penn State University and worked at Wagner Electric in Boyertown, Pennsylvania. In 1974 he began working at Osram Sylvania in Winchester, Kentucky as an engineer where he later retired in 1999. He was awarded 7 US patents in the lighting industry. He enjoyed deer hunting and was a member of the Fish and Game Club where he was an active board member until his death. He loved watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his son, William “Bill” G. (Sheri) Thiry Jr.; four grandchildren, Bryan (Candace) Thiry, Joshua (Jaqueline) Thiry, Hannah Thiry, Jazzy Thiry; great grandchildren, Luke Thiry, Adam Thiry, Remi Thiry; sister Marilyn “Chut” Miller and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Jean Wolf and brother, Rodney “Moe” Thiry.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 14th from 11:00 AM until Noon with a funeral service beginning at Noon in the Milkins Trymbiski Funeral Home, 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple.
Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
