Obituary

Ernest Lyle Oswald, 88, of Temple, passed away in his home Saturday, July 23, 2022, surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Born on May 19, 1934, he was a son to the late Robert I. and M. Fay (Johnson) Oswald. Ernest was the husband of Shirley (Rarick) Oswald with whom he shared 66 loving years of marriage.

Ernest was a 1952 Muhlenberg High School graduate and a proud Veteran of the United States Army where he served in the Korean War. Ernest was employed as a Truck Driver for many years until his retirement in 1991 from Carolina Freight Corporation. He was a member of the Teamsters and the American Legion. In his free time, Ernest loved to go hunting and fishing. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Bill Elliott and was a loyal Cowboys fan. Above all, Ernest was the definition of a family man; He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

In addition to his wife, Shirley, of 66 years, Ernest is survived by his daughters, Sherry Mann, Debra Beck and Cynthia Ernesto, wife of Charles Ernesto. Also surviving are grandchildren, Benjamin Mann, Elizabeth Pittenger, Robert Senishen, Amanda Miller, Andrew Ernesto and Sarah Krotulski. In addition, Ernest was also blessed with 14 great grandchildren, Sophie, Liam, Logan, Ilias, Brianna, Hailey, Nathan, Kendall, Sadie, Lucas, Emily, Alexa, Cole and Connor.

Ernest was predeceased by his siblings, Edward G. Oswald and Donna L. Oswald.

A visitation will be held Monday, August 1, 2022 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am in the Milkins Trymbiski Funeral Home, 4914 Kutztown Road, Temple, with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 am.

A burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
