Sara “Emily” (Heiser) Weidner, 93, of Temple, passed away on June 12, 2021 at KeystoneVilla in Fleetwood.

Born on May 6, 1928, she was a daughter to the late Leroy F. and Marion (Frees) Heiser. Emily was a 1945 graduate of Reading High School and went on to attend Reading Hospital School of Nursing where she was known as “Spike” and graduated as a registered nurse in 1949. Emily was instrumental in getting bike racks on BARTA buses and getting “Share the Road” signs put up around Muhlenberg Township. Along with her friends, she has taken many bicycle trips, including, to the Canadian Rockies, around the Great Lakes, the Finger Lakes in NY and around the perimeter of PA as well as many other places. Emily even published “Berks Bars to Bike to”, a map of local bars where riders could follow directions to ride to. When Epiphany Lutheran Church closed Emily became a member of Calvary Lutheran where she served on the Board for many years. Emily also was an avid Scrabble player and enjoyed reading. Emily will be remembered by her two of her favorite sayings: “If you haven’t changed your mind lately, are you sure you have one?” and “People are more important than things”.

Emily is survived by her loving daughters, Nancy E. (Weidner) Christensen and Sandra E. Weidner, companion of Thomas Hatrak both of Colorado and a daughter-in-law, Joanne M.
